1977.  While seemed to be ignored by the general public, seeing this at the Campus Theater in 1977 was unforgettable cinema childhood memory.  (They showed two shorts, "Rendezvous" (1976) and "Crunch Bird" (1975)--both also classics, at least to see them on film, as a kid.)
